ACCOUNTANT JESSICKA RAMBUS
Most would describe me as a friend, daughter, sister, and small business owner and they would be correct. However, in this picture is when I became an Accountant.
This was my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (BABA) accomplishment from the University of Washington (T), in 2010. It was one of the most difficult feats of my life, but I did that. It was a two year, non-stop achievement which is why I am adamant about the knowledge of Accounting. The accreditation is not easy and should not be taken lightly. Means, I am an Accountant not a bookkeeper.

MY STORY
It's Bigger than me..
The daughter of two beautiful parents (see pic) who have had my back from sun up to sun down all my life, I grew up thinking about a single path for life. Go to school, get a good job, and build a white picket fence life with a husband. While this led me to being a First-Gen diploma and Graduate, life happened so the truth for my path was different, and that's ok.
You see, after a 10-year hiatus and a vow to never go to school again, I went back to school in 2018 for my Master of Business Administration (MBA). Why? I was hired as an Associate Finance Director with an opportunity for subsidized education, so I went for it. Unfortunately, however, I was laid off from the same University that was educating me just shy of working for them for 1.5 years. In fact, I took out my first education loan ever to pay for the final quarter of my degree. Maybe they didn't know that I had a perfect credit score and could get any loan if I needed to. Nevertheless, that layoff was validation for me to start Living my life on Purpose.
So, I turned the other cheek to corporate exhaustion and began getting introduced to Seattle's finest in business from DonYeta (her website by yours truly) who I briefly met 6 years prior while volunteering for the City of Federal Way Diversity Commission. She introduced me to BlackDot which led to Tabor 100, Africatown, Rainier Beach Action Coalition and so many authentic professionals that looked like me with the same mindset and determination of Black excellence, Black wealth, Black leveling of the opportunity gap, Black education, Black STEM, Black Accounting, all-purpose legacy and self actualization.

Means, I would not trade that layoff for anything in the world and I kind of wish that it would've happened sooner but I am a firm believer in God's plan and timing. In fact, a recent 8 day, 7 night trip to Atlanta felt like another confirmation for my life where today you see me like this - acknowledging myself with all that I have to offer, on absolute "Purpose.."
